600 miles over 6 days…the ultimate trial! The SSDT is one of the oldest and most prestigious trials in the country with 280 entries in 2017 and an amazing 261 finishers. With around 100 miles a day over 30 challenging sections, the SSDT is not for the faint hearted – it is the ultimate challenge of skill, stamina and endurance. Despite all the sections, there’s usually the added challenge of the Scottish weather – snow, rain, gale force winds…until now! This year saw uncharacteristically continuous sunshine and blue skies, a welcome change to those who take part in the trial year on year.
